Blanket stitching

This video helps me to make a blanket stitch which is needed for my textile subject in making a table runner.
Precise blanket stitch is needed so that my design looks clean.
Correct use of thread colour is also essential to go along with the design that I have chosen.

Hari raya- Yellow glutinous rice

During hari raya haji, i tried making yellow glutinous rice with my mother.
As usually without fail my mother would make beef rendang, chicken sambal, lontong and sambal goreng for every hari raya, we decided to also make the glutinous rice as well.
The video shows how it is to be done. It took a few hours to be steamed.
However it turned out to be good.
I would love to do it again.

Food Photography

We are given a chance to take a photo/ picture on 1 serving of dessert ( cakes, doughnuts, ice cream) that have nice presentation.
For me, I went to Swensens icecream buffet at Ion Orchard as i knew that the buffet has a vast variety of ice creams, cakes, toppings, and other things sweet and nice. There are a few picture taken of the presentation.
What i learned from Homec lesson on rubrics of food presentation are that three factors are taken into consideration which are colour, garnishing, serving size and/ or serving plates.

So here are the photos.................

 

 Waffle with sinfully chocolate mudpie ice cream. Toppings added are rainbow rice, chocolate bits, wafers and chcolate fudge.

I realised that I placed a lot of toppings here coz the plate was a bit big and there were plenty of empty spaces. I think it will look nicer with only a few toppings. I cant choose a nice plate because swensens plate are all standardise. The chocolate fudge was suppose to be just a drizzle but i accidentally placed a lot of it. Overall, the taste was very chocolatey but the waffle has lost its crisp.

For this, I took a white squarish bowl. In this picture the bowl might be big but actually its an icecream bowl that can placed around 4 to 5 scoops of icecream. To avoid choosing any chocolate flavoured ice cream, i went for the apple crumble ice cream flavour. I made a mistake in taking marshmallow flavoured fude which was also white in colour and difficult to be seen in this picture. Then, colours for this presentation was added with strawberry fudge and strawberry fruit itself. The chocolate balls and nuggets were very tempting and irrisistible so i placed it as a topping too. Overall the taste was a mouthful because theres a lot of flavour too but i ate all up coz it was super nice.

Brownie with strawberry and peach gelato. Chocolate bits at the side plus nuts and chocolate fudge. Fruits such as peach and longan was added, nata de coco and whipped cream was added just to add to the texture. Nata de coco was juicy and nice to be eaaten with the gelato ice cream with fruit bits in it. Overall...i like this the most as there is a brownie to go along with the gelato ice cream.

This picture is related to food presentation but its not ice cream. I ordered Fish Grilled Sambal and i was presented with this presentation. Just wanted to share that they piped thier mashed potato which i thought it was cool. They also added a few garnishing like carrots, lemon, frensh beans and something else that im nt sure but it is orange/ yellow in colour.

The moment I clicked on the webpage I am very interested to know more about the facts of a potato. I thought that potatoes might be very simple food that most of us enjoy. However, with unique presentation and cooking style it can have its wow factors too.

I really enjoy eating potatoes as I like its soft texture and mild taste. In the webpage there are many recipes and all the recipes have potatoes in it. As there are varieties of potatoes, it can be made into many dishes. The webpage include potato variety chart for potatoes of various categories.

Even though it is through that we often hear that consuming too many potatoes is unhealthy as potatoes contain complex carbohydrate, the webpage will teach us on healthy and balanced meal prior to potatoes.

This webpage mostly focus on baking such as the baking processes, ingredients used, decorations for baked products and baking events. From my point of view, I feel that this webpage is very useful for beginner bakers who have the interest in baking and for them to seek help from.

There are activities for baking that are held in various events such as camps for children for them to learn fun things about baking. Besides that, there are weekly activities for the whole family to be involved in. These activities will correspond to events such as Valentine’s Day, Halloween and others.

There are also resources and educational materials for educators to look into. Besides that, the webpage provide baking tips, and also many healthy recipes for all ages.

Just by the name of the web resource makes me want to google it online. What i found in the website was an interesting, fun and creative ideas that can be done by anyone regardless of age.

The web resource is also very well organised and we are able to learn a lot of things from making candy to food presentation.
